  1. Meetings for September, October and May shall be the Thursday evening before the third Friday of those months at 6:00 p.m. January, February and March meetings will be the third Friday of each month at 10:00 a.m. When DeKalb County Schools are closed because of inclement weather, all events or meetings of the Club will be postponed and rescheduled to a later date.
  2. The normal Order of Business for the membership meeting shall be:
    • Call to order and determination of whether a quorum is present.
    • Reading and disposition of minutes of previous meeting.
    • Reports of officers and committees.
    • Unfinished business.
    • Report of the Executive Board and action on any resolution or recommendations submitted.
    • New business.
    • Program
    • Adjournment
  3. The order of business is flexible and may be changed if necessary.
  4. Transfer of records—Retiring officers and Committee Chairmen shall, within two weeks, present to their successors all records acquired during their term of office.
  5. Annual dues shall be $40 due and payable by March 31. After March 31, a $5 penalty will be added until April 30 when non-paying members will be dropped from membership. New members shall pay dues upon application. Members who join between December 1 and the last day of February shall pay dues of $15.
  6. Annual dues for a Family Membership shall be $65 due and payable by March 31. After March 31, a $5 penalty will be added until April 30 when non-paying members will be dropped from membership. Dues for new Family Memberships are payable upon application. Those memberships occurring between December 1 and the last day of February shall pay dues of $25.
  7. Members shall receive two written notices of non-payment of dues before the May meeting. If they are still in arrears as of June 30 they will forfeit membership.
  8. Members may bring guests (who are not prospective members) and shall pay a fee of $5 for each guest.
  9. Prospective members may attend only one meeting as a guest of the Club and one other meeting as a paying guest before submitting a membership application.
  10. At each meeting the Recording Secretary shall be given the Sign-in Sheet which will include the names of attending members, paying guests and Club guests.
  11. Cards shall be sent to seriously ill members and members who have lost a spouse or child.
  12. Projects of promoting or selling for other organizations, clubs, or causes shall not be undertaken except those fulfilling the objectives of the Club as contained in Article II of the Bylaws.
  13. Installation of Officers shall occur at the Annual meeting in March.
  14. The Executive Board shall host the Club’s Holiday Luncheon.
  15. A memorial of $50 will be contributed for each deceased member or member’s spouse to the City of Avondale fund for a memorial tree. The minimum donation will be $150.
  16. A $50 donation will be made to the Garden Club of Georgia Scholarship Fund in memory of a deceased child of a Club member.
  17. A Life Membership in the DeKalb Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. shall be awarded to the outgoing Club President. If this person is already a Life Member, another Club member, chosen by the Executive Board, shall receive this award.
  18. A member who has been in the Club for 25 years will be formally recognized at a membership meeting.
  19. The AEGC member contact information is strictly for use as an intra-organization communication tool for the club. Any use of member contact information for purposes of commerce, advertising, solicitation or political purpose is prohibited. Using, giving, lending or selling AEGC member contact information to or on behalf of any for-profit or not-for-profit enterprise or effort is prohibited.
